We embrace the fact that outreach is one effective tool through which
the people in need can access oral health care services. Outreach as
a service delivery channel helps the Organisation to bridge the gap
of accessibility. Most of the Dental practitioners are located in urban
areas thus depriving the rural populations a chance to receive services.
An outreach is a complete entanglement between the community and the
health institution or organizations. It is an attempt by the organizing
members to impart its objectives, opinions, skills and practices to
the target population or general population thereby generating awareness
and improving oral health. Dental outreach programs are generally free
and are directed towards the cost effectiveness and benefit of the community
using the community itself as a resource.
There a number of cultural practices, norms and beliefs which act as barriers to achieving good oral health behaviors. This channel greatly helps us to address them.
